Facts

The Associated Press (AP) sued Meltwater U.S. Holdings Inc. and Meltwater News U.S. Inc., which monitors the media for corporate customers, alleging copyright infringement. The defendants allegedly copied AP content and sold it to clients without paying AP licensing fees. The defendants claimed that their use was covered by the "fair use" doctrine.

Result

U.S. District Judge Denise Cote ruled in favor of the AP.
