LOS ANGELES - For Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Bobbi Tillmon, the new year has brought a host of changes.

After a dozen years as a family-law commissioner in Santa Monica, Tillmon, 54, was elected as a judge in November and given a criminal-law assignment at the courthouse near Los Angeles International Airport.
