SAN DIEGO - Ruben B. Brooks recalls sharing an occasional meal and conversation with U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas and Alan Bersin, currently the Department of Homeland Security's border czar, while they were at Yale Law School in the 1970s.
