CHATSWORTH - When prospective jurors grumble about serving on a civil case they consider inconsequential, Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Barbara M. Scheper tells them about a personal-injury trial she presided over seven years ago.
On the surface, the case looked like a run-of-the-mill slip-and-fall.
