SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO — Although new to the bench, San Mateo County Superior Court Judge Nancy Fineman has been there before.

Fineman’s father was a lawyer and would bring her to court often when she was a child. One day a judge let her sit on the bench. That judge was Cecil Mossbacker, the first woman to serve on the Alameda County Superior Court.
